The Urhobo People, or the Urhobos, are located in Delta State, Southern Nigeria, precisely, in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. Their neighbors are the Isokos to the South East, the Itsekiris to the West, the Binis to the North, Ijaws to the South and Ukwanis (kwale-Aboh) to the North East.
The Urhobos are the majority ethnic group in Delta State with more than a million people and are the 5th largest ethnic group in Nigeria. They occupy Delta Central exclusively and are prominent in 8 ;Ethiope East, Ethiope West, Okpe, Sapele, Udu, Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Uvwie Local Government areas, out of the 27 Local Governments Areas of Delta State.
A few numbers of Urhobos live in other Local Government Areas within Delta State and in the neighboring states of Bayelsa, Edo and Ondo State.
In the Nigeria political setup, the Urhobos belong to the South-South geopolitical zone which comprise of the following states; Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Rivers, Cross River and Delta. The Urhobos exclusively occupy the Central Senatorial District which contains three Federal Constituencies; Ethiope East/and Ethiope West, Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu and Okpe/Sapele/Udu constituencies. The senatorial districts are represented by Senator and the federal constituents by Honorable Members in the Upper House (Senate) and Lower House (House of Representatives) in the bicameral Nigeria National Assembly.
Traditionally, Urhobo is divided into 24 kingdoms, each kingdom rules by a king of Ovie and their chiefs;
